What is MRSA?
MRSA stands for Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus. It is a type of staph infection. A staph infection occurs when the surface of the skin is wounded and "staph bacteria" is able to enter the wound, eventually causing infection. Unfortunately, MRSA is resistant to certain antibiotics called beta-lactams. Most MRSA infections take place primarily on the skin.
